The last piece of Sora shuts off September 24

The last piece of Sora shuts off September 24, and OpenAI hasn't said how long you'll have to export your work.

The piece

In nine days, the last piece of Sora shuts off. And OpenAI hasn't said how long you've got to get your work out. OpenAI's own deprecation page says

the Sora API and every Sora 2 model shut down September twenty-fourth. Under 'recommended replacement,' there's nothing. If you spent nights learning an AI tool because everyone said you'd get left behind,

this one's for you. Because the tool got left behind first. The Sora app launched last September. It was switched off in April.

And here's the part that matters tonight. OpenAI says once any final export window closes, it permanently deletes Sora data. Its own advice: export as soon as possible.

Go to sora dot chatgpt dot com slash sunset, hit export, and wait for the email. Now the good news, and it's real. Whatever you learned about describing a shot, holding continuity, building a scene, that moved to the next tool the same day.

The buttons didn't. I'm learning these tools in public, same as you. And the rule I'm taking from this one:

the platform is rented. The drive in my bag is mine. Tools come and go.

The craft underneath them is the part you get to keep. So tonight: export anything you made in Sora. Keep a local copy of every AI project, on any platform. And write your prompts like shot descriptions, not app tricks, so they travel. Like this if you've got work sitting on a platform you don't own.

because I'm figuring out what's worth learning next, right alongside you.
